In Gordon Street Last Night...

As I mentioned in the last post, we went to a taping of Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight.  It was SUPER fun!  I don't want to say too much about what actually happened in the show because I think you should all watch it tomorrow.  830pm.  ABC.  You may well see a familiar face!

After the show we got to hang around in the VIP room.  Chyken drank this:

And he met Charley Boorman ...

They talked motorbikes. I think. I wasn't really listening to be honest.  He's quite lovely to look at though.

Then we got to meet Adam.  After a brief discussion about Wheelchair Mickey (remind me to tell you about him some other time...) We got this photo:

Now, how do I explain how lovely Adam Hills is? hmmm.... Imagine the lovliest person you have ever met...  Now triple it, now triple it again and you might come close!  He is funny and quick and I have long admired his work, it was simply a pleasure to meet him.

Now, make sure you watch tomorrow, OK?  OK.

Today I am grateful for my wonderful husband who has stood beside me for the last three years.  Happy Anniversary Chyken!

Musical Monday - Take 40!

Short but sweet post today. I am about to walk out the door to head to Melbourne to be in the audience for Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight! Am really looking forward to it, should be a great night.

I'm going through a Top 40  phase, which is odd for me, I usually stick with old songs, but I am making an effort to discover new music.

This one will stick in your head for days...

This next one may as well have been written about me.

What's coming out of your speakers this week?

Today I am grateful for spending a good weekend with great friends.

Unexpected

It's a funny old thing, grief.  It hits you when you least expect it.

Last night when I was watering the roses in the front yard of the Castle I was not expecting it.  I had a wonderful weekend.  But one minute there was water coming out of the hose, the next there was water coming out of my eyes.  All because of a fleeting thought...

'Dad won't ever see these roses.'

And he won't.

And it makes me sad.

And it has been a while (a good two weeks at least!) since thoughts of Dad have made me actually cry.  Sure, I have been sad, but not to the point of tears.

One step forward and two fucking steps back.  When will I start to just move forward?  Ever?

Hmmm... I'm having second thoughts, perhaps there isn't anything funny about grief at all?

Today I am grateful for my sister.  In fact, every single day I am grateful for my sister.

As Easy As ABC

I took this from Living Like The Kings.

She took this from The Glamorous Life of a Housewife.

Because it's fun. And because I love lists like these.

A. Age: 33

B. Bed size: Queen.  Chyken wants a king, but I'm not sure it would fit in the Castle.

C. Chore you dislike: Umm because there are chores that you like? If I had to name just one I'd go with hanging out washing.

D. Dogs: Nope, we have Guard Cats in the Castle.

E. Essential start to your day:  Kissing Chyken goodbye.

F. Favorite colour: Purple!

G. Gold or silver: White Gold.  Or platinum.  Why, are you getting me a present?

H. Height: 5 foot 7 inches.  And a bit.

I. Instruments you play(ed): Guitar.  Badly.

J. Job title: Next Flight Consultant

K. Kids: Not yet.  Hopefully one day.

L. Live: In the Castle.  Just outside Melbourne, Australia, The World, The Universe.

M. Mom’s name: Brenda (Otherwise known as Dame Washalot)

N. Nicknames: Doob, Doobs, Taco. JoJo.

O. Overnight hospital stays: Several.  Tubes in ears, tonsils out, gall bladder out.  I think once when I was a kid I had really bad gastro and got dehydrated and had to stay in hospital for a few days.

P. Pet peeves: People that don't put CD's back in the cover.  People that don't buy me dip when requested.

Q. Quote from a movie: 'P.S. I'm a fatso whale'.  (I'll give you a bonus point if you can name the movie!)

S. Siblings: A brother and a Sister.  Both older.

T. Time you wake up: The alarm is set for 530am, but I usually get out of bed about 545am and wake up while I'm in the shower at around 550am.

U. Underwear: Yes, I am wearing some, thanks for asking.

V. Vegetables you don’t like: Mushrooms. So revolting.

Z. Zoo animal favorites: Baboons.  Hands down favourite, if you are ever at a zoo at baboon feeding time, do yourself a favour and watch them being fed.  Hilarious!

Okay, your turn!

An Affair To Remember

Over the long weekend I fell in love.

Hopelessly, completely and utterly in love.

It was a passionate affair that ended all too quickly.

Just like Rose in the film Titanic, I do not even have a picture, it exists only in my memory.

I will remember it forever and I hope to find something the same, or at least something very much like it in the near future.

I probably should tell you that I wasn't alone in my desire.  I shared it with these:
In the Castle, these are called 'God Biscuits'.

I fell in love with dip.

More specifically, I fell in love with Caramelised French Onion Dip.

I purchased it from my local Coles Supermarket.

It is made by a company called Black Swan, although this particular flavour does not seem to appear on the website.

Remember at the beginning when you fall in love and you just can't get enough?

That's where I am at now.

I NEED more!

My Weight Watchers lady would disagree, but what would she know?

She describes banana on toast with diet maple flavoured syrup is 'decadant'.

She is a fool!

I am ever hopeful that I will have the dip again soon.

Next time I think I shall try them with these old favourites:

Today I am grateful for the existence of dip.  Obviously.

Musical Monday

Here's a song you might not have heard before.  I was reminded of this today and then realised it would be perfect for Musical Monday!

Enjoy!

Instagram-a-riffic

You may have noticed that I use the Instagram application on my iPhone fairly often.  I thought I would show you some before and after photos.  Usually the ones you see here on my blog are taken with my iPhone, but all these photos were originally taken with our Nikon D90 and then I put them on the iPhone and edited them with the app.

Then I applied the 'Sutro' effect...

Then I applied the '1977' effect...

Then I applied the 'X-Pro II' effect...

Then I applied the 'Poprocket' effect...

This last one wasn't done with Instagram. it was done with Old Photo Pro.

In my opinion, this app is not as good as Instagram, you can't crop the picture like you can in Instagram, and the effects are limited, but I like this one.

If you have an iPhone and you haven't downloaded Instamatic, what's stopping you?  It's free!!!

*This is not a paid ad for Instagram, they have no idea who I am, I just really, really, really love their app.  Amen.

The Week That Was...

What a week!

I spent most of the week in bed with migraines.  Do you get migraines?  I hope not, for they suck!  I'm not talking about headaches, for migraines aren't just 'bad headaches'  This link might help explain it.  In case you were wondering, I get the full shebang, with 'aura' and nausea.  And I spent two days away from work this week with two separate migraines.  Fun times.  The upside of the migraines was that I got to spend the days with these two gorgeous creatures!

Nutter & Sausage

Nutter has almost given up her hissing campaign and seems to accepted that Sausage is here to stay.  I'm not saying she's happy about it, but she seems to have accepted it!  Still the occasional hiss, but for the most part they play together reasonably well.

My best friend has returned this very day from an almost three month European adventure.  As I am writing this she is on her way here so she can regale me with tall tales from her trip while we eat food that is a billion Weight Watchers points per mouthful.  I'm a bit excited!

I'm also a bit excited about the state of the Castle grounds.  Today I removed the protective bunting to stop people walking on the front yard, because we kinda have lawn now.  Check it out!!!

Now, yes I did run this picture through the Instragram App on my iPhone, so the grass isn't quite that green in real life, but it's pretty close.  Those long grass things along the front are not weeds, they are agapanthus!  Next summer they are gonna look grouse!  Mark my words!!!

I'm catching up with some work mates tomorrow afternoon, and I'm really looking forward to it.  Given the nature of my work (have I ever mentioned what I do?  hmmmm perhaps I will write a post about it!) there isn't a lot of time for chatting at work, so every now and then we need to get to together after work for a catch up!  Tomorrow night we have an engagement party to go to, then I am working on Sunday morning.  Sunday arvo I have a date with Chyken and the couch and then another week will begin.

What about you?  Got exciting plans this weekend?
