How is it the end of February? Seriously, where does the time go?
The Guard Cats are starting to get along. Well, that's if 'getting along' can be described as chasing each other all over the house. When she thinks we aren't looking Nutter is being quite lovely to Sausage, but when she catches us watching there she is hissing. I think it is only a matter of time before she gives in and they cuddle up together like the cats of my dreams! It gets rather cold here in the winter and Chyken and I are gone all day...
Had a super amazing day yesterday, even though nothing extremely interesting happened, it was just one of those days where everything went well. Had a wee sleep in and then went and had my hairs cut. Then Chyken and I headed off to the big smoke. Saw a production of Avenue Q and almost died laughing. More on that in another post!
Then we went and had Cold Rock Ice Cream. Have you ever been? Oh my, it is AMAZING. You should go. Now. Sooner if possible!
Then it was dinner time! We went to Acland Street in St Kilda and it was busy. Like, super busy. Or perhaps it wasn't and I've just been living in the country too long. In any case, we stopped at the first place that had a free table and that happened to be Grill'd Grill'd is YUMMY! I had a chicken burger with brie. Chyken had a very nommy looking steak sandwich type thing.
We then popped in to Luna Park. Because they have Fairy Floss and I felt that I would need a half time snack at the show.

Then after standing around for what felt like hours out the front of the theatre it was show time!
Interior of the Palais Theatre
Tim Minchin vs The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I'm not sure my words will do it justice. It was amazing! Funny, offensive, note perfect and visually stunning. Here is a small example. Not with a full orchestra, but you'll get the idea.
It was a most enjoyable day all round really.
I have spent today in my pajamas. Chyken is off at a conference somewhere and has promised to bring home takeaway from the Indian restaurant that was our favourite when we lived in Brunswick, but haven't had since we left (it only does takeaway and if we're eating in Melbourne we usually go somewhere with chairs!) I've had a pretty chilled day here with the cats. There are a million things I could be doing around the Castle, but I haven't had a weekend where I haven't worked in what feels like ages, so aside from changing the sheets on the bed I have no real plans. In fact, I might get off the laptop now and go and do that and then I can get in the bed with a book and wait for dinner to arrive. Bliss!
What have you been up to this weekend? Add your link in the comments...
Today I am grateful that we live so close to Melbourne.
Indeed I can. This brings me to my exciting news for the week. I got a new car! Well, it is new to me. I sold my little old Ford Laser and got....
Sir Lantralot! He is beautiful! I love him. Amen.
2. What are two foods you just can't eat?
Mushrooms and anything that still has eyes, yes seafood, I'm looking at you!
3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind?
We do not have them here. Or at least I have never been offered them. I'm pretty sure I would buy them though.
4. How do you pamper yourself?
I don't really. I do have a day spa voucher floating around somewhere that I really should get around to using...
5. What is your nickname and how did you get it?
My nickname is Doob or Doobs. When I was a kid I LOVED Romper Room, especially Mr Doobee. My Dad started calling me that and it kind of stuck. When I started hanging about in chat rooms I needed a name and didn't want to use my real one so I came up with Miss Doobie. The people there started calling me Doobs and there are still some friends I met there that still call me that today.

Hurrah for the weekend! I am up for a much needed haircut tomorrow and then we are heading to the Palais in St Kilda to see one of our favourite comedians, Tim Minchin, after that we have a 40th Birthday to attend. Sunday Chyken has some stupid conference to go to and I plan on hanging out at home with the Guard Cats.
Whatever you have planned, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Today I am grateful for the people I work with, they have the ability to make a dull day shine.
It is becoming increasingly apparent that I am nowhere near ready for parenthood. These cats are doing my head in and we've only had two for just over 24 hours!
This is where Nutter has spent most of the last day...
When we forcibly move her from there she hisses and growls and generally carries on until she either goes back there, or hides on our bed. Sausage couldn't care less and keeps looking at Nutter as if to say 'What are you on about, you loser?!?!!'
Yesterday morning Nutter was under the doona and Chyken plopped Sausage on top of her... She sounded like a dragon!
I can see where she's coming from, two years of being Top Cat and having all our attention, but sheesh! She needs to get over it and realise we have TWO laps.
I hope they sort it our soon, I want harmony restored in the Castle!
Today I am grateful for having had a wonderful weekend!
It's no secret that I love me a good musical. It was really hard to choose just ONE to feature in today's Musical Monday, let alone just one song from it, but I managed. Without further ado, may I present a megamix of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat!
Today is all about love. It is the date of when I met Chyken. Exactly six years ago today.
Given that St Valentine's Day falls on a Musical Monday this year, I thought it would be appropriate to link back to this earlier Chicken and Bees post. It contains some of the music most precious to us here in the Castle. They are our wedding songs.
I didn't include this one in that post, and unfortunately I could only find a really daggy version on the Tube of You, but this is a song from Godspell called 'All Good Gifts'. The version my husband arranged for our wedding was much, much better! I'm not really into the religious sentiment, but it is a beautiful song, whichever way you look at it.
Chyken, you truly are a good gift. Thankyou. For everything. And the rest. love love.
Today I am grateful for picnics in the park on Anniversary Day.
This is my 101st post. I can hear your incredulous scream from here 'There's been 100 posts of crap already? No!??!!' I can assure you it is true. Blogspot tells me so. Who am I to argue?
I had plans of doing a momentous 100th post, but I wanted to brag about my school-night jaunt to see The Boy From Oz, and since it was a Wednesday I felt it kinda had to be in a Wordless Wednesday post. (Speaking of which, there are a LOT of people on the internets who are putting up Wordless Wednesday posts and then writing whole paragraphs explaining the photos. It's supposed to be wordless, people, WORDLESS!) Where was I? Oh yes, momentous post. I had planned on doing something to mark the occasion, a retrospective perhaps, or a maybe a 'Chickens and Bees, This Is Your Life!' special edition? But to be honest it crept up on me. I will put on my thinking cap and try and come up with something amazing for 150!
So, here we are at 101. It's been fun. I've enjoyed dribbling crap at you. I hope you have enjoyed reading said crap. Just so you know, I intend to post more crap. There are lots of new things about to happen inside the Castle walls. If you want to know what they are you will just have to keep on reading!
This is the only sunflower to have survived the Great Castle Ground Floods of 2010.
Thanks for reading! I really do appreciate it.
Just for kicks, here's my current favourite lolcat type picture. Enjoy!
When you call to make a booking, if you feel the need to ask someone in the background the answer to EVERY SINGLE question that I ask you, then please, please, PLEASE just hand them the freaking phone!
