This and That

This is my very first blog post from my shiny new iPad. I'm in love with it! Even if I am having some trouble locating the button for the ' symbol.

We also got a very shiny new fridge. It's the first new fridge I have ever owned and it is amazeballs. It even has a kind of new fridge smell.

I'm currently on night shift, which pretty much means I have no life. I sleep, I get up around the time Chyken gets home from work, we hang out for a few hours and then I go to work. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Once I'm at work it's not all bad. I work with cool people and we have a laugh. This week I've been doing some very repetitive stuff though and to be honest I'm a bit over it. I've been drinking a LOT of this...

I've applied for a promotion. Don't want to say too much in case I jinx it, but keep your bits crossed for me, eh?

In three weeks I am going to Queensland and let me tell you, if I don't see some sun I want my money back!

There's not really any other news to report.

What's been going on in your world?  If you have an iPad, what apps MUST I get?  Do you have a favourite one to blog from? Do I ask too many questions?

Introducing....

... The newest residents of the Castle!!!

Ta-da!!!

Minchin

Bukkit

Yup, we went to get one cat and came home with two!

Nutter is NOT impressed.  Sausage is also not really happy about it, but she at least seems curious about them.  Nutter is hissing and growling and sulking.  She did the same thing when Sausage moved in, so I'm sure she'll get over it.  I'm doing my best to ignore the bad behaviour and praise the good.

Minchin is a boy and so far has been a bit reserved, but he purrs a lot and is quite smoochy.

Bukkit is a beautiful girl and is a bit crazy.  She also has quite a purr on her and likes to snuggle up with Chyken.

They are both about 8 weeks old and came from Ingrid's Haven.  If you're near Melbourne and in the market for a cat you should go see her.

It has been very hard to get photos of them as they don't sit still for a second, always off exploring and climbing up things.  Including people.  I already have scratches all over my arms and hands.  Please excuse the grotty state of my floors.  You just scrolled up to check them out, didn't you?  Gah!

How many cats makes a crazy cat lady?  Please tell me it is more than four....

Things I Know - Volume Five

Linking up again with Shae from Yay for Home!

I know our new TV is super big and super awesome.

I know that the new TV cabinet and way we have the lounge room set up now makes the room seem much bigger.

I know that pulling a muscle in your neck is NOT awesome.

I know that codeine IS awesome.

I know that having dinner every week with some of my favourite people is fantastic.

I know I have missed my sister while she has been away and I'm glad she's on her way home.

I know wish I had someone to clean the shower, it's the job I hate the most.

I know we have two of the strangest cats ever.

I know one of them thinks she is a crocodile.

I know I wouldn't swap them for anything.

I know I'm a bit addicted to Twitter.  (Are you?  Look me up!)

I know I don't spend anywhere near as much time on Facebook since I fell in love with Twitter.

I know there are far worse things I could be addicted to.

I know that one of my godsons turns 1 this week and there's gonna be a great party tomorrow to celebrate.

I know there will be cake.

I know there will be pizza after the party.

I know that Chickens and Bees is hosting its first ever giveaway and it is starting tomorrow!

I know you should check back here tomorrow for details!

I know you should click on the button and go and see what other people know...

I know you should then tell everyone what YOU know!

My Cat Is A Weirdo

I’ve been home sick this week and have spent most of that time in bed, which meant the cats did too, as they have enjoyed being curled up with me asleep.  Sausage spent some time this morning licking the bedside lamp.  No, I don’t know why.  I also don’t have any proof of that, because I was snuggled up in the bed at the time, but I do have proof of some other mental behaviour because today I finally felt well enough to emerge from under the doona and the cats did too.

Sausage has found a new place to stalk me from…  What, you can’t see her?  I’ll zoom in…

Nutter couldn’t care less…

When I found them, Sausage was actually asleep up there, but by the time I found the camera she had woken up.

A bit later on I found her here...

Bag Cat?

See?  I told you she is a weirdo!.

What stupid things do your pets get up to?

P.S. I am going to set up a page on here with all the buttons of the blogs I read… If you are a blogger and you have a button, can you let me know (Via a comment here or on Facebook or The Twitter) so I can add yours?  Searching through everyone’s blogs on the off chance they have one is taking forever!

Instagram-a-riffic

You may have noticed that I use the Instagram application on my iPhone fairly often.  I thought I would show you some before and after photos.  Usually the ones you see here on my blog are taken with my iPhone, but all these photos were originally taken with our Nikon D90 and then I put them on the iPhone and edited them with the app.

Then I applied the 'Sutro' effect...

Then I applied the '1977' effect...

Then I applied the 'X-Pro II' effect...

Then I applied the 'Poprocket' effect...

This last one wasn't done with Instagram. it was done with Old Photo Pro.

In my opinion, this app is not as good as Instagram, you can't crop the picture like you can in Instagram, and the effects are limited, but I like this one.

If you have an iPhone and you haven't downloaded Instamatic, what's stopping you?  It's free!!!

*This is not a paid ad for Instagram, they have no idea who I am, I just really, really, really love their app.  Amen.

The Week That Was...

What a week!

I spent most of the week in bed with migraines.  Do you get migraines?  I hope not, for they suck!  I'm not talking about headaches, for migraines aren't just 'bad headaches'  This link might help explain it.  In case you were wondering, I get the full shebang, with 'aura' and nausea.  And I spent two days away from work this week with two separate migraines.  Fun times.  The upside of the migraines was that I got to spend the days with these two gorgeous creatures!

Nutter & Sausage

Nutter has almost given up her hissing campaign and seems to accepted that Sausage is here to stay.  I'm not saying she's happy about it, but she seems to have accepted it!  Still the occasional hiss, but for the most part they play together reasonably well.

My best friend has returned this very day from an almost three month European adventure.  As I am writing this she is on her way here so she can regale me with tall tales from her trip while we eat food that is a billion Weight Watchers points per mouthful.  I'm a bit excited!

I'm also a bit excited about the state of the Castle grounds.  Today I removed the protective bunting to stop people walking on the front yard, because we kinda have lawn now.  Check it out!!!

Now, yes I did run this picture through the Instragram App on my iPhone, so the grass isn't quite that green in real life, but it's pretty close.  Those long grass things along the front are not weeds, they are agapanthus!  Next summer they are gonna look grouse!  Mark my words!!!

I'm catching up with some work mates tomorrow afternoon, and I'm really looking forward to it.  Given the nature of my work (have I ever mentioned what I do?  hmmmm perhaps I will write a post about it!) there isn't a lot of time for chatting at work, so every now and then we need to get to together after work for a catch up!  Tomorrow night we have an engagement party to go to, then I am working on Sunday morning.  Sunday arvo I have a date with Chyken and the couch and then another week will begin.

What about you?  Got exciting plans this weekend?

Happy Families?

It is becoming increasingly apparent that I am nowhere near ready for parenthood.  These cats are doing my head in and we've only had two for just over 24 hours!

This is where Nutter has spent most of the last day...

When we forcibly move her from there she hisses and growls and generally carries on until she either goes back there, or hides on our bed.  Sausage couldn't care less and keeps looking at Nutter as if to say 'What are you on about, you loser?!?!!'

Yesterday morning Nutter was under the doona and Chyken plopped Sausage on top of her... She sounded like a dragon!

I can see where she's coming from, two years of being Top Cat and having all our attention, but sheesh!  She needs to get over it and realise we have TWO laps.

I hope they sort it our soon, I want harmony restored in the Castle!

Today I am grateful for having had a wonderful weekend!
