Running hot AND cold.

So, we're building this house right? And it's taking forEVER! Well, I think it's actually taking as long as building a house takes, but it seems like forEVER! If it ever gets finished it should look a little something like this...

But at the moment, it looks like this...

Actually, they look about the same. Uh-oh, that can't be good, can it?

Anyway, I went for a visit there this afternoon, because I had heard a rumour that a plumber had been in attendance doing plumber type things. Turns out it was more than a rumour, it was fact! We have pipes. Yay! Hopefully soon I will be able to bore you with picture of bricks. In the meantime, be bored by this picture of my kitchen sink. Well, where the kitchen sink will be. It has pipes!

My turn to cook dinner, so I best crack on with that.

Theme Nights?

OK, so I was trying to come up with some sort of theme for this blog. Very Julie & Julia of me, or something. I have since given up on that idea, and have decided that no theme is the new black.
You may find that there will be themes running through here, but I am not making the whole blog about one thing, mainly because I am not about one thing. I am many things! I am the 32 year old 'newlywed' who is currently living in her parents house as she builds one of her own. I am the one who gets up and goes to work in a not very interesting job every day to pay for said house. I am the one with a mental cat. I am the one who lost her Dad at Christmastime and is wondering if it will ever stop hurting. I am the one with the best husband in the entire world. I am the one who has been overweight for far more years than I was underweight (or even middleweight) and I am finally doing something about it and seeing results. I am the one who is stuck in a family containing people who simply do not understand her. I am the one who is writing this bloody thing, dammit, so I can do whatever I like. So ner.

So, anyway, I'm pretty sure this will start like my other blogs (post every day, sometimes more often, for the first month or so and then move on to something else) but the question is, can I maintain it??? I hope so, because right now is the start of something wonderful in my life. a big fat new beginning.

There's a couple of things I would like to try and do most days. One is to share with you a photo from my life, because I have learnt something recently, and that is that we should all be photographing the mundane. Today was even more mundane than usual, so, here is what I did on the weekend instead.

From this:

To this:

Yup, I 'looked after' my Dad's prized hedge. I think I did a wonky, but OK job.

The other thing I might try for a while is to share with you the quote from my desktop calendar. Sometimes they're great, other times they suck.
Today's is:
Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps.
- David Lloyd George
And, as I head out the door now to my Eater's Anonymous meeting, I feel that this is appropriate. Wish me luck!
EDIT: It was a good meeting!!!

Quote:

I pretend to be happy and fine so I don't have to explain myself to people who'll never understand.

Source: Anon.

(This photo is not linked to the quote in any way, I just wanted to put it here cos I like her. Her name is Nutter)

Well...

Having another go at this blog business. Have tried a few times in the past, but I get bored easily.
Will I post more than twice? Will it be worth reading even if I do? Why do I own a spinning elephant?

All these questions and more may well be answered if you care to stick around....
